After the fourth episode of “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars,” Simon Cowell was astounded when aerial performers Power Duo defeated choral group Ndlovu Youth Choir in the superfan vote. In actuality, Terry Crews’ announcement was followed by the British judge stating only two things: “Wow” and “Unbelievable.”
In 2016, Power Duo, a formidable acrobatic dance duo, won Pilipinas Got Talent. They later competed on Asia’s Got Talent during season three, making it to the Grand Finals. Power Duo, who will be a part of AGT All-Stars this season, promised to make everyone cry with their heartfelt dance moves and musical interpretations.
This week’s contestants on America’s Got Talent: All-Stars, Power Duo, not only earned a spot in the All-Stars finale but also won the hearts of the nation.
Power Duo’s next appearance will be in the finale episode, when they will face off against superfan favorites from earlier weeks, including aerialist Aidan Bryant (AGT Season 16 runner-up), saxophonist Avery Dixon (AGT Season 17 finalist), and the Bello Sisters (AGT Season 15 finalist). The next four Golden Buzzer performers listed below have also progressed to the Finals: A finalist on Season 17 of America’s Got Talent, comedian Mike E. Winfield, and a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent 2020, magician Aidan McCann.
AGT Season 14 runner-up Detroit Youth Choir and AGT Season 14 finalist Light Balance Kids are both choral ensembles.
Sadly, the “AGT: All-Stars” superfan voters can only advance one act to a Finals each week, and they overwhelmingly choose Power Duo. Unfortunately, the terrible rule will result in many other talented performances being eliminated from every program.
However, although Power Duo made a minor error during their performance that Howie noticed and even though they are an international act with presumably a small fan base in the United States, the panel shouldn’t have undervalued the strength of Power Duo’s universal love story. I believe that the pair benefited because the majority of American viewers were exposed to that narrative for the first time.
Still, love prevailed in the end. The South African choral ensemble Ndlovu Youth Choir was eliminated from America’s Got Talent Season 14 after the Philippines’ sweethearts won the superfan.
